Calling all Winchester fans ...
Mar. 4th, 2009 12:44 pmSmartPop's latest anthology is out, and this time it's In the Hunt: Unauthorized Essays on Supernatural. And I wrote one of them!
We all know I like to write (about almost anything, anytime), but this was an absolute joy -- I was writing about Sam and Dean (and John! and the Impala! ). A show hasn't hooked me the way Supernatural has since Buffy, and I actually hopped on that train at the fourth or fifth stop -- I've been with Supernatural since the beginning (with a brief hiatus when I apparently lost my mind), and I love it ... well, more than I should, probably. Just ask my husband and my kids, although at this point I've sucked them so far into the fandom it's hard to tell they were initially a little dubious.
In the Hunt features a couple of romance authors, a professor of religion and Greek, a Super-Wiki team member, TWoP's Jacob Clifton, Tanya Huff, and a Supernatural RPG writer, as well as fandom's own Dodger Winslow. Key element -- we're all fans. And the topics covered range from "Horror, Humanity, and the Demon in the Mirror" to "The Burden of Being Sammy" to "John Winchester and the Magic Bullet Theory."
The essays cover up to the end of Season Three (at least mine did, when I got to sneak in a few more details during copyediting, after the last few S3 episodes aired). Season Four, as diehard fans know, is rolling right along, and it looks like we're (meep!) getting Season Five, as well.
I can't even make up my mind how this season is going to end, but In the Hunt is going to be fun to chew on while I wait for Season Five. ::refrains from making comments about Sam and Dean would also, um, be fun to chew on::
