In an effort to improve my mood, I want to make a playlist of excellent songs to crank in the car, up to eleven, windows down.

So far, I have:

"Crazy," Seal
"Feeling That Way," Journey
"Highway to Hell," AC/DC

... and that's about it. Thoughts? Suggestions? What do you crank in the car?

"I Have Come Out To Play," "Rooming House on Venice Beach," "Dancin' Late At Night," and "I Love Hot Nights," all by Jonathan Richman
"Gin-Soaked Boy," The Divine Comedy
"Back on the Chain Gang," The Pretenders
"Still," Alanis Morissette
"How Soon Is Now?" and "Cemetery Gates," The Smiths, but especially "How Soon Is Now?" If there's any sound in all of music history that more perfectly fits the rageful, heartsore, furiously hungry sensation of driving too fast, pursuing or flying from something you can hardly name, than the opening bit of genius by Johnny Mar, I have never heard it.

I think I'd pick "Tattooed Love Boys" over "Chain Gang", and I definitely have to explore the rest of your suggestions because ... gaps in my musical knowledge!

Trust me, your knowledge is probably way less gappy than mine, which runs deep but very, very narrow.

Based on everything you're thrilling to in everyone else's suggestions, "How Soon Is Now?" is probably the best match for you from my list. Several of the others may leave you feeling severely WTF-y, but that one... just yeah. Looking forward to your eardrum-dazzled report after testing out the opening riff at high volume and high speed.

ION, masses of good thoughts and vibes going out to you, just because.

I have a few notable gaps, based on age and what I was doing when. Like, I completely missed the Smiths. WTF, right?

I am also this very minute watching 100 Top One-Hit Wonders of the 80s on VH1 and imagining a very different playlist (and sort of vaguely reliving high school).
