Fox is reairing Fringe tonight. I watched on Thursday and am head over heels in love.

Thing the first: Joshua Jackson, all grown up. YUM. Gorgeous, bearded, playing a snarky genius who never realized his potential and is only participating under duress.

Thing the second: Total X-Files vibe from this show -- fringe science (well, duh), but smart dialogue, great tension, and a dark, quirky sense of humor.

Thing the third: Anna Torv, a newcomer who plays FBI agent Olivia Dunham, could be Poppy Montgomery's sister. I really like her so far.

Thing the fourth: Denethor! I mean, John Noble! Playing a completely out-there scientist who's been in a mental institution for the last seventeen years. AWESOME.

More things!: Cows! Sexual tension! Mind-altering drugs! Spongebob references!  BLAIR BROWN! Which I can't believe I forgot to mention until now.

It's J.J. Abrams, he who brought us Lost and Alias, which is ... good and bad. By the end of this episode it's clear that corporate behemoth "Massive Dynamic" is going to play a big role in the show, which reminds me (not very happily) of Lost's Dharma Initiative, and by association the mess Abrams made of the mythology behind both previous shows.

Still! Joshua Jackson! He's very lickable. I'm going to keep watching. I've always had  a soft spot for men shows that are sure to break my heart, or at the very least make me pull my hair out while sitting in the corner rocking and babbling.
Watch with me! I believe the regular slot is Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST after House, which doesn't suck, you know?

Surprisingly, it appears it's not going to play as big a role as we might think, according to J.J. He's trying to keep it more accessible and less labyrinthine.

THAT'S who she reminds me of!

Right?! As soon as I figured it out, I was so relieved, because it was driving me crazy. They even sound the same, which maybe is because they're both Aussies doing an American accent?

The name "Massive Dynamics" cracks me up because, really JJ? Do you think none of your fans watch Eureka?

I don't! I keep meaning to, but I haven't. I may have to NetFlix the first season at some point because it looks like a lot of fun.

You should - it's a lot of fun. But the premise is that Eureka is a company town for scientists, and the company (that everyone works for and every episode revolves around) is called Global Dynamics.

Dear god, it *is* the X-Files.

The pilot's DVR'd but I haven't watched it yet - your post certainly makes it sound more interesting.

I never watched Dawson's Creek, so I had no idea of the absolute hottitude! I just ... YUM. And he's SNARKY. LOVE.
