So far, in just a few days, we've managed to obtain Shrek, Gingie, and Puss in Boots from McDonald's. Sara desperately wants Fiona and Donkey, so we'll be on the trail as long as this Happy Meal promotion lasts. I foresee many Chicken McNuggets and cheeseburgers in our future.

I adore Happy Meal toys. They're the perfect size to stick in a backpack for playing with in the car or in a waiting room, and they're exactly the right price for passing fads, like the brief Flushed Away fascination of a few months ago.

Plus, Shrek! The new movie is coming out May 18, Stephen's birthday, and I swear he's as excited as the kids are.

I used to collect McD/BK toys myself. Of course I got rid of them all in a purge months before mac got here. Now we are getting the Spiderman toys from BK. I totally agree with you that they are perfect size. They are also fairly indestructible.

The thing about Happy Meal toys is, they always make more. And some of the stuff we had from Jake and Ben, even if we had saved them, would be kind of indecipherable to Sara.

The best thing was finding the Madame Alexander dolls they gave away a year or so ago on eBay. They're perfect for her, and she looooves them.

Happy Meal toys are the bomb. It is quite a treat at my house...but the toys provide a good few days of entertainment! We have Shrek...but of course Sarah wants Fiona, too!

We actually saw Flushed Away on the plane coming back from Hawaii. I had my noise cancelling headphones on the entire way and was listening to Nicky on my iPod, while watching the animated rats in what looked to be a total and very amusing rip of my favourite Neil Gaiman novel.

It was surreal, to say the least.

Eep! Must keep Nora away from McD's until that promotion is over. She's in love with Shrek and "Finona" too.
